Ted Morris
When Ted Morris was 19, his parents signed him up for a guitar correspondence course through the mail. The very next year, age 20, he got his very first guitar, a greenish Cort acoustic. Learning to play was very frustrating. Family, friends and his girlfriend at the time weren’t aloud to even mention the word ‘guitar’ in his presence. But slowly he learned and at the age of 23 he managed to play through a song for the first time; his own shaky version of ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’.
Three years later, Morris gathered a band of fellow Stockholm musicians and recorded his debut album, ‘A New Beginning’ that was released on his own label, Blonde & Monkey Music, an album that was steeped in escapism and big dreams. In late August 2012, Morris releases his second full length album titled ‘It’s All About You And The Rest’s About Me’, a collection of very personal songs about how he has loved and been loved, about letting people down, and being let down and taking a dare or not. All of the songs for the album were recorded in Morris’ adopted home of Stockholm, some in his basement, some at Eastman Studios, the rest at Matching Head Studios.
Everything’s sold with a story nowadays, the product gets a little more interesting for the buyer that way. On ”It’s All About You And The Rest’s About Me” the songs are the stories, songs so honest that it wouldn’t be fair not be as honest when it comes to Morris himself. He’s a white middle class guy in his upper twenties who writes heartbreaking songs about crashed relationships and hopeful songs about the rush of love. A little acoustic, you know. You’ve heard it before, maybe just not this good.
